27A- Reading Reflection No.3

Reading Reflection No.3

Thinking Fast and Slow- Daniel Kahneman

For book reflection number 3 I deiced to read “Thinking Fast and Slow” by, Daniel Kahneman. This was a very interesting read; this book covers the 2 system our brain is broken up into. It refers to one part that thinks instinctively which what is ultimately guides our decisions. Then he spoke about the part of your brain that in not engaged at all times which he refers to has the “slow” part of the brain. He expands on these two topics by creating the concept that this is why and how we are able to think creatively or “outside the box” some would say. However, I was really captivated by this book, unlike most informative readings it was very easy to follow along with and not much jargon. There is an exercise conducted that was a series of different situations of real-life experiences that were assessed on how they answered. Through the answer gather you are able to the different ways in which some of the students answer slow or fast. This did a great job of highlighting what I found to my favorite part of the book which was seeing how these students handled the stress situation. I found it very enlightening especially after getting an overview of how the two parts of the brain work with or sometimes and even against each other. I would recommend this read to anyone interested in the human brain, very fascinating stuff I just read!

28-A Exit strategy

Exit Strategy

1.) I have not really thought this far ahead, but I guess with a successful business plan I should always be ready for an exit strategy. I don’t plan on selling my business unless I got an offer I couldn’t refuse; I just think that I am very young still and this is something I am very passionate about that also has longevity also with technology on the up rise. I would definitely love to retire in like 30-40 years after successful running my company where at the end of my career I will either sell the whole thing for large return or I would inherit the company to my children. This would be my ideal business exit strategy if it was a perfect world, this would give me the opportunity to be my own boss for life and make great money while doing so.

2.) I think that this is just the most reasonable action for me to take considering the market I am is lucrative and also not going anywhere anytime soon. I think there is a lot of future in my business that why I wouldn’t sell unless it would make me a multi-millionaire.

3.) I think it plays a big part because if I was thinking about aborting the business at any time, I wouldn’t have put so much effort in the product and business plan. I definitely have planned some of business opportunities with the plan of having my business for a really long time such a partnership with apple. I have acquired help with my product also with scientist I can trust will be on my team for a really long time. There is for sure a direct correlation with the way I went about my business plan knowing I was in for the long haul.

26-A Celebrating Failure

Celebrating Failure

1.) Throughout this semester during my senior capstone course we had to do our weeks task then present to our professor for feedback which for the first couple weeks didn’t go so well for our group. He kept telling us we needed more each week and that our work could be way better he knows it! So, after three weeks straight of our feedback telling us we aren’t where we need to be as a group, we all decided to stop only communicating through the phone and sit down somewhere in person and figure it out. After we had our first team meeting, we were able to get know each other better and learn some strengths.

2.) I learned that it’s important to get know your group and learn what each member of the team is good at so you can effectively approach the project at hand. I think this also reassured me that getting negative feedback is good because you can fix it to be better for next time.

3.) We were very embarrassed by our first three weeks of feedback so much that we had to make change by meeting up in person rather just communicating via text message. I personally have very thick skin I’ve played sports all my life and can handle a little bit of criticism, I think it’s actually good to get negative feedback because that’s how you learn. I think by some of the reading I did during this class really just lets you know that there are other people also going through failure, its normal, it’s how we all get better.

25A- What's Next?

What’s Next?
Existing Market
Step 1:
I think we can that we can not only protect laptop and desktop devices but even cell phones because now a day’s people keep a lot of valuable information on there cell phones. I think we can also promote to schools they are one of the industry leaders of institutions that use technology.

Step 2:
Interview 1- They agreed that it should also protect devices such as cell phones.
Interview 2- She agreed that it would be smart to promote this software to schools because they have tons of computers.
Interview 3- This person said at the beginning of our business startup we should do some deals or give always to create a buzz around the product.

Step 3:
To continue our research so that our team can stay sharper than the opposition to give our customers peace of mind. We will also upgrade our facilitates as our business begins to grow onto the national scale.

New Market:
Step 1:
I think that new market that could be cool to partner with is apple or Microsoft, I would prefer apple if we are going to start making cell phone programs. This partnership would intel them installing our anti-virus package program show their customer they trust we are the top dogs.

Step 2:
This market even though they may not have the problem at the moment are just being protected from a potential problem, which I believe that they will be thankful for end up liking the software program.

Step 3:
Interview 1- He thought this was a great idea didn’t have much to add
Interview 2- She thinks that this will be out of my price range as far partnering with either companies.
Interview3- She thinks if I am successful in my first two years, I might have the capital for something like this.

Step 4:
I think that this is a great idea and will make my brand like the Disney or Nike of the anti-virus software program game. Ages from 18 and up will have this problem and it will only increase in stress as you get older and make more money or have more responsibilities on your device that you to protect.

24A- Venture Concept #1

Venture Concept #1
Opportunity:
I found the opportunity for my product when I personally lost a 1,000$ of my hard-earned money, I was furious to say the least now I want to make sure it never happens again. There are millions of cases reported of some type of cyber-crime this year alone. This will not only protect your devices from cyber-crime, but it gives an opportunity for our talented members to show why they are the best.

This problem is very relevant for our era of technology being so advanced and individuals who are talented enough to take advantage of the average users with no clue about these dark powers.  Not to mention almost everyone in the united states basically has a device that can and should be protected.

Innovation:
My product is a software program system that eliminates cyber-crime making any device you want to protect from hackers. This product will be installed on the device, where then that device will be watched by one our talented members to make sure there is not foreign activities trying to penetrate the software. This anti-virus software program will be fairly priced to my competitors but will offer different packages at more luxuries rating.

Venture Concept:
This has been a problem since 2000’s when computers became mainstream along with the internet which are two things that will never go out of business. No program has been able to effectively say they have never been hacked or comprised before but with my resources we will be the first ones.

The three minor elements:
1. Most important is obvious in starting every project, resources/research, without this our project will go nowhere.

2. I want to partner up with huge companies such as Microsoft or even apple to see if they can preinstall our product on all of their products. made different packages to hopefully help make more money on the software program.

3.  In live 2 years I want my program software system to be the leading anti-virus software program in the world.

22A- Elevator Pitch #3

Elevator Pitch #3

21A- Reading Reflection #2

Reading Reflection #2

How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big by Scott Adams

1)What was the general theme or argument of the book?

The main theme throughout this book is just to look at life or professionally your success and failures in a different point of view. Adam  believes by living this way or seeing this way it will allow you to see that those failures are what led to your success.
2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
I think there is a huge connection between what I am learning in ENT 3003 and the book I read, one reason being we discussed that most entrepreneur start off with failure becoming successful. This is a big part of what the book was about, trying to teach us to see situations in a different lighting. I think this book is a perfect reputation of a entrepreneur, someone who gets knocked but sees these failures as stepping stones in creating a masterful business plan.
3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
I would probably have to ask the students to make a list of their biggest failures and success, then after they have that list ranked put the date of the failure or accomplishment next to it. After you have done this analyze if you have failed mostly before you began to succeed, if you have thats perfect you are just going through the process. Based on the book I think the students would see an exact correlation between the two.
4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?
I believe that majority of the book was a 'aha' moment for men, the way he talked about seeing life is truly unique, only a very wise person can realize and accept failure in order to succeed. I don't think it differed from many other lessons about failure, he was just able to talk about appreciating failure more than resenting it though.
